Healthy Eating Table Activities

This week we are focused on healthy eating. Here is a closer look at our table activities.

Here we are sorting the different fruits using Learning Resources Super Sorting Pie game.

These are some food group laces cards I found in Target's Dollar Spot.

Here we are slicing mini fruit and veggies. Not sure the brand as they were a gift. 

This activity is our healthy shopping sort. I put both healthy and not healthy foods into the crate and my son will sort between "put it in the cart" or "put it in the trash." Mini trash can is from Dollar Tree, the wooden food is Melissa & Doug and the mini shopping cart was found at our local thrift store.

Dramatic Play Area - Bank

We turned our market into a bank!

Filled with real items from an actual bank as my mom works there. We have coin rollers, money straps, laminated play money, empty checkbooks, purses, wallets and pens.

Here we have deposit, withdrawal and payment slips.

We have a calculator, drive-thru tube and play credit card (the samples you get in the mail).

Weekly Table Activities

Here we explored our new balancing scale. This is from a Saxon homeschool science and math box.

This activity didn't have any specific directions. My son simply built with them and also created patterns and counting.

Some science practice. Transferring water from one test tube to the next with our eye dropper. Our test tube and holder are from Dollar Tree.

Lastly, our geo board. Great fine motor skills being practiced when putting and stretching the rubber band during this activity. Also from the Saxon math box.

Homeschool Room Tour

Here is a look into our current homeschool room set up. 

Here is our word wall. We used window clings from Dollar Tree for the border and the letters. 

This is our classroom clock. We added labels to help assist in learning how to tell the minutes. 

Here is our calendar. We use Confessions of a Homeschooler's Daily Learning Notebook to follow along with our days.

Simple clips indicate what the current day is. Red clip represents yesterday, the green clip represents today and the yellow clip represents tomorrow.

This is where our recent activities are put after we have used them for the week. They are rotated monthly for this shelf as I rotate the table activities weekly according to our theme. 

The are located on the bottom of our word wall. These are our phonetic object boxes. Inside each box contains items that have the same beginning letter sound. 

This area I rotate according to our current theme. For this week we were learning about healthy foods so we create a grocery store.

This is where most of my supplies are stored, along with a walk-in closest.  Below is a close-up view of a few shelves.

Here are a few of our language bins.

This is how we store our different types of papers. My son has access to most of these shelves to use at his leisure. 

Another shelf he has access to with his go to art supplies.

Last close-up view is his play-doh and painting shelf. This shelf is still used daily.
